Add MyLiveChat to your Wix site

Wix lets you add MyLiveChat with a single code snippet — no app install required. Paste the MyLiveChat code once under Custom Code and the chat button appears across your whole site. MyLiveChat lets you answer visitors in real time, collect offline messages, and keep every conversation in one place.

Use this guide to add MyLiveChat to Wix. The free plan includes one agent, unlimited chats, and unlimited websites — no credit card required.

Live chat setup guide

Step 1. Get your MyLiveChat code

Sign in to the MyLiveChat web console and click Deployment menu on the left. Choose Embedded Chat tab and copy the MyLiveChat code.

Step 2. Add the code to your Wix site

  1. In your Wix Dashboard, go to Settings → Custom Code (under Advanced).
  2. Click + Add Custom Code and paste the MyLiveChat code from Step 1.
  3. Under Add Code to Pages, choose All pages.
  4. Under Place Code in, choose Body - end, then click Apply.
  5. Publish your site and open it — the chat button appears in the corner.

Check that live chat is working

Do not assume the install worked because you saw no error. Open your site in a private browsing window and walk through this once:

  1. Look for the chat launcher on the page. If it is missing, view the page source and search for mylivechat to confirm the code is really being served.
  2. Start a chat as a visitor and send a test message.
  3. Sign in to the web console and confirm the message arrives and that you can reply.
  4. Close the chat and check the transcript is saved, so you know follow-up will work.

Test the published site, not the Wix editor preview. Custom code does not run inside the editor, so a correct installation looks broken there every time.

Common Wix setup mistakes

  • The site was never published. Custom code only goes live when you publish. Adding the code and clicking Apply is not enough on its own.
  • The code was added to one page instead of all of them. Under Add Code to Pages, choose All pages unless you deliberately want chat on a single page.
  • The code was placed in the head instead of the body. Choose Body - end so the launcher loads after your page content and does not compete with it.
  • Custom Code is not available on the plan. Lower Wix plans do not offer it. You can still add the chat code inside an HTML embed element on individual pages.

What happens next?

After setup, sign in to the web console to answer visitors from your browser. You can also use the desktop app from the download page if your team prefers it.

Want the AI to answer first? Point the AI assistant at your site content and it handles routine questions 24/7, then hands off to a human with the full transcript when one is needed.

Why add live chat to Wix?

Wix sites are often the only storefront a small business has, so a visitor with a question either gets an answer or leaves. Adding chat gives them a way to ask without picking up the phone, and the offline form keeps collecting questions overnight so you never lose the lead.

Because the snippet is added once under Custom Code and applied to all pages, you do not have to touch each page in the Wix editor, and it keeps working when you redesign your site.

Wix live chat FAQ

Do I need a paid Wix plan to add MyLiveChat?

Custom Code requires a Wix plan that allows adding code to your site. If Custom Code is not available on your plan, you can still add the chat button inside an HTML embed element on individual pages.

Will the chat button show on every page?

Yes, if you set Add Code to Pages to "All pages" when you add the snippet.

Does it work on mobile?

Yes. The widget is responsive and works on the mobile version of your Wix site.

Is it really free?

Yes. One agent, unlimited chats, and unlimited websites are free forever, with no credit card required.

Make the chat window fit your site

Colours, position, language, the pre-chat form and your offline message are all set in your MyLiveChat dashboard rather than in your Wix code, so you can change them without editing your site again. See customization options for what can be changed, and visitor monitoring if you want to see which page a visitor is on before you reply.
