Add MyLiveChat to your Duda site
Duda lets you add MyLiveChat through its site-wide custom code area — paste the MyLiveChat code once, republish, and the chat button appears on every page. For agencies, the same approach works on each client site you manage.
Use this guide to add MyLiveChat to Duda. The free plan includes one agent,
unlimited chats, and unlimited websites — no credit card required.
If you do not have a MyLiveChat account yet,
create a free MyLiveChat account.
Start free
Step 1. Get your MyLiveChat code
Sign in to the MyLiveChat web console and click
Deployment menu on the left. Choose Embedded Chat tab and copy the MyLiveChat code.
Step 2. Add the code to Duda
- Open the site in the Duda editor and go to Settings → Head HTML (listed as site-wide custom code in some accounts).
- Paste the MyLiveChat code from Step 1 into the site-wide code box.
- Save your change.
- Click Republish, then open the published site — the chat button appears on every page.
If you only want chat on one page, add an HTML/embed widget to that page and paste the same code into it.
Check that live chat is working
Do not assume the install worked because you saw no error. Open your site in a private
browsing window and walk through this once:
- Look for the chat launcher on the page. If it is missing, view the page source and search
for mylivechat to confirm the code is really being served.
- Start a chat as a visitor and send a test message.
- Sign in to the web console and confirm the message arrives and
that you can reply.
- Close the chat and check the transcript is saved, so you know follow-up will work.
Republish first, then test the published address. Site-wide code is injected into published pages, so the editor preview is not a reliable check.
Common Duda setup mistakes
- The site was not republished. Duda serves a published copy of your site. Saving the code is not enough on its own.
- The code was added to a template instead of the site. If you work from a reusable template, confirm the code reached the individual site you are testing.
- Only one client site was updated. Agencies managing many Duda sites need the code on each site; there is no shared switch that covers them all at once.
- An HTML widget was used for site-wide chat. A widget covers the page it sits on. Use the site-wide code area when you want chat everywhere.
What happens next?
After setup, sign in to the web console to answer visitors from your browser. You can also use the desktop app from the download page if your team prefers it.
Want the AI to answer first? Point the AI assistant at your site content and it handles routine questions 24/7, then hands off to a human with the full transcript when one is needed.
Why add live chat to Duda?
Duda sites are often built for clients who want enquiries, not traffic reports. Chat turns an anonymous visit into a conversation your client can act on, and the transcript is proof the site is doing its job.
Because colours, position and the offline form are all controlled from the MyLiveChat dashboard, you can hand a client the chat settings without giving them access to the site code.
Duda live chat FAQ
Can I use one MyLiveChat account across several client sites?
The free plan covers unlimited websites, so you can add the chat code to more than one site. Whether you want the conversations mixed together is a workflow decision — see the guide on running live chat on more than one website.
Do I have to republish?
Yes. Duda applies site-wide code when the site is republished.
Does it work on Duda store pages?
Yes. Site-wide code applies to every published page, including store pages.
Will it slow the site down?
The chat code loads asynchronously after your page content, so it does not block rendering.
Is it really free?
Yes. One agent, unlimited chats, and unlimited websites are free forever, with no credit card required.
Make the chat window fit your site
Colours, position, language, the pre-chat form and your offline message are all set in your
MyLiveChat dashboard rather than in your Duda code, so you can change them without editing
your site again. See customization options for
what can be changed, and visitor monitoring if you
want to see which page a visitor is on before you reply.
