Add MyLiveChat to your Weebly site

Weebly lets you add MyLiveChat through its Footer Code field — paste the MyLiveChat code once, publish, and the chat button appears across the site. MyLiveChat gives visitors a way to ask before they leave, and keeps every conversation available afterwards.

Use this guide to add MyLiveChat to Weebly. The free plan includes one agent, unlimited chats, and unlimited websites — no credit card required.

If you do not have a MyLiveChat account yet, create a free MyLiveChat account.

Live chat setup guide

Step 1. Get your MyLiveChat code

Sign in to the MyLiveChat web console and click Deployment menu on the left. Choose Embedded Chat tab and copy the MyLiveChat code.

Step 2. Add the code to Weebly

  1. In the Weebly editor, open Settings → SEO.
  2. Paste the MyLiveChat code from Step 1 into the Footer Code box.
  3. Click Save, then Publish your site.
  4. Open the published address — the chat button appears on every page.

If your Weebly plan does not include the SEO header and footer code fields, drag an Embed Code element onto a page instead and paste the same code there. That covers the page you put it on rather than the whole site, so add it to the pages that matter most first.

Check that live chat is working

Do not assume the install worked because you saw no error. Open your site in a private browsing window and walk through this once:

  1. Look for the chat launcher on the page. If it is missing, view the page source and search for mylivechat to confirm the code is really being served.
  2. Start a chat as a visitor and send a test message.
  3. Sign in to the web console and confirm the message arrives and that you can reply.
  4. Close the chat and check the transcript is saved, so you know follow-up will work.

Publish first, then test the published address. Weebly’s editor preview does not run custom footer code, so checking there will always look like the install failed.

Common Weebly setup mistakes

  • The site was not published. Code saved in Settings only reaches visitors after you publish. This is the most common Weebly mistake by a wide margin.
  • The code went in the header box. Use Footer Code so the widget loads after your page content rather than competing with it.
  • Only the weebly.com subdomain was checked. If you also publish to a custom domain, confirm the address your visitors actually use.
  • An Embed Code element was used on one page only. An element covers the page it sits on. For site-wide chat, use the footer code field.

What happens next?

After setup, sign in to the web console to answer visitors from your browser. You can also use the desktop app from the download page if your team prefers it.

Want the AI to answer first? Point the AI assistant at your site content and it handles routine questions 24/7, then hands off to a human with the full transcript when one is needed.

Why add live chat to Weebly?

Weebly sites are usually small business sites where a single unanswered question is a lost customer. Chat gives those visitors somewhere to ask, and proactive invitations can trigger on the pages where people hesitate — pricing, services, contact.

Because the code lives in your site settings rather than inside a page, it survives layout changes and new pages, and it loads everywhere you publish.

Weebly live chat FAQ

Do I need a paid Weebly plan?

The SEO header and footer code fields are part of Weebly’s paid plans. If yours does not include them, you can still add the chat button to a page with an Embed Code element.

Do I have to publish after adding the code?

Yes. Saved settings only reach visitors once you publish the site.

Will it appear on my Weebly store pages?

Yes. Footer code applies across the published site, including store and product pages.

Will it slow my site down?

The chat code loads asynchronously after your page content, so it does not block rendering.

Is it really free?

Yes. One agent, unlimited chats, and unlimited websites are free forever, with no credit card required.

Make the chat window fit your site

Colours, position, language, the pre-chat form and your offline message are all set in your MyLiveChat dashboard rather than in your Weebly code, so you can change them without editing your site again. See customization options for what can be changed, and visitor monitoring if you want to see which page a visitor is on before you reply.
